During the portion after creating the VMs, each OS can be opened up at the same time to finalize everything. Also for this project, we should keep things consistent and use the following logins for the operating systems:
Credential | Windows Server | Windows 10 | Ubuntu |
---|---|---|---|
User Name | Administrator | student | student |
Password | Georgiasouthern! | Georgiasouthern! | Georgiasouthern! |
You should see a large + button to create a new VM, or alternatively, go to File > New Virtual Machine
After completing the following for each OS, you will have to complete some final steps on startup. See respective notes below per OS.
Ensure that you install with Desktop experience!
Installing Windows 10 follows the same basic steps as before, but ensure you use your different credentials!
Installing Ubuntu follows the same basic steps as before, but ensure you enter the relevant credentials, you can install without installing updates at the same time, and perform a minimal installation to save time. Without these options, it can take up to 30 minutes to install Ubuntu. There is a minimal amount of post installation setup to complete. You will likely need to input your username and password again during the setup process. Further, you can choose a minimal installation, and to install without updates, to speed up the process.
